Property Division
In Arkansas, marital property is subject to equitable division in a divorce. Equitable means fair, which may not result in a 50-50 division of the assets. One person may receive more of the assets than the other if the judge decides that is a fair distribution.
Marital assets may include the home, other real estate, vehicles, personal property, furnishings, retirement accounts, stocks and other financial assets. In addition, you must divide marital debts, including mortgages, car loans, taxes and credit card debt.
